Join us in Griffith Park to greet the rising sun of the New Year. Groove to the rhythms of Korean drumming, song, and dance (POONGMUL) as the sun's rays continue to bathe us with warmth, hope, and well wishes for the New Year.

Meet us at Griffith Park, 5:30 a.m. to hike up to the top where we greet the sunrise, facing the Hollywood sign. Otherwise, meet us up at the top by 6:30 a.m. (about 29 minutes before sunrise).

(Los Angeles, CA) The National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC) and its affiliates, the Korean American Resource & Cultural Center (KRCC) in Chicago and the Korean Resource Center (KRC) in Los Angeles are urging Korean American organizations throughout the country to have their say on immigration in 2009. Earlier this month local and national immigrant rights groups came together to issue a joint letter to President-elect Barack Obama on the urgent need to enact immigration reform. For the next 45 days, community organizations are encouraged to support this effort by endorsing and gathering organizational endorsements. This letter is based on the assumption that we have strong prospects to pass immigration reform that keeps families together and respects & enables greater contributions by immigrants. We urge swift administrative action that will immediately provide relief to immigrant families, such as a moratorium on the raids and eliminating the immigration backlogs.
