Internship Position: Healthcare Reform "Having Our Say" Intern

The Korean Resource Center is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic HAVING OUR SAY INTERN who is interested in furthering healthcare reform in California. The intern will work with the Having Our Say campaign in pursuit of furthering coalition goals within the Korean community in Los Angeles.

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
The Korean Resource Center was founded in 1983 to empower immigrants and communities of color, particularly Korean Americans, through education, advocacy and grassroots organizing. It has also been a space for dialogue on questions of identity, representation and appropriate political systems & structures as much as it was for actual activist training, education and community base building. Events such as the Los Angeles Civil Unrest of 1992 and the anti-immigrant wave starting with Proposition 187 during the mid 1990s steered the organization's course to focus on educating and organizing Korean Americans on major civil rights and immigrant rights issues.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Actively participate in the Having Our Say Coalition by attending all in-person meetings, conference calls, policy briefings, legislative visits, forums and coalition activities. – Research and assess California health policy reform efforts – Other duties may include organizing to advocate for issues that affect the community.
This is a part-time paid (20hour/week) internship.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates should desire to provide support services and aid for individuals in need. The ideal candidate is an understanding and committed individual who is bilingual in Korean and English.
