Mass Mobilization, May 1st – Call out for Poongmul Players, New and Experienced!
May 1st International Workers Day/Immigrant Rights March
Location: MacArthur Park (Wilshire Blvd + Park View St) Time: 4pm

Poongmul is a traditional Korean percussion ensemble that is recognized as an effective form of cultural expression in the social justice movement for thousands of years in Korea. Whether it was during the Japanese occupation or the modern democratization movement of Korea, young and old have participated in this dynamic form of cultural activism. In present day Korean America, as a part of the immigrant rights & civil rights movement, many have heard the powerful yet serene sounds of poongmul in numerous marches, rallies, and vigils.

As we gear up for another mass mobilization on May 1 enabling immigrant voices to continue impacting the current Congressional debate on immigration reform, you are presented with an important opportunity to learn poongmul and become part of history. Join us as we call on Congress and the President to support and pass humane and realistic immigration reform solutions. Learn how to uplift the voice of Korean Americans and strengthen our unity with diverse immigrant communtiies through Poongmul.
