WHY:The Senate is expected to begin debate on comprehensive immigration reform next week; yet negotiations with the White House continue behind closed doors. What is at stake in this debate are significant to the Korean American community - pathway to legalization, keeping families together, protecting workers’ rights and civil liberties.

Recently, 400 Asian Pacific Americans returned from two days (April 30 – May 1) of intense action in Washington, DC to support immigration reform, including a rally and legislative visits. Participants from that mobilization will share their experiences on the impact of this action.

Lastly, Korean Resource Center (KRC) and the National Korean American Service & Education Consortium (NAKASEC), will also announce action items that the Korean American community can do to ensure Congressional commitment to fundamental American values of families, workers’ rights and civil rights, and a path to citizenship for the 12 million undocumented immigrants of this country. Immigrant families cannot wait any longer; now is the time for humane and just immigration reform.
